The Langham Partnership is a group of ministries that have arisen from the vision and worldwide ministry of John Stott over half a century. In his travels John witnessed firsthand the phenomenal growth of the church in the southern and eastern continents—the Majority World. Disturbed, however, by the fact that so often this is evangelistic growth without discipling and maturity—he took several initiatives based on three convictions, which he calls “the Langham Logic“:
But the standards of preaching and clear exposition of the Bible are sadly very poor in so many parts of the world. So, if we want to foster the maturity and mission of the church, the logical question to ask is, What can we do to raise the standards of biblical preaching?
Our vision is to see churches worldwide being equipped for mission and growing to maturity through the ministry of Christian leaders and pastors who sincerely believe, diligently study, faithfully expound and relevantly apply the Word of God.
The Langham Partnership International is a network of national bodies with the same objectives in the U.K., the United States (under the name John Stott Ministries), Canada, Australia, New Zealand and East Asia. With John Stott now in his 80s, these bodies appointed the Rev. Dr. Chris Wright as international ministries director in September 2001 to work alongside John and take on the responsibilities of strategic leadership in the various ministries.
