Friends of Langham Partnership International,
A global body of 243 scholars! This is the scholar program of Langham Partnership International.
Is this not astonishing?! God has blessed this ministry richly since Uncle John had the foresight to identify funding for one PhD scholar thirty-five years ago. Today we have (148) graduated scholars who have returned to their home countries to serve. In addition we are supporting (95) scholars who are pursuing their PhD. These scholars are chosen by selection committees of our Langham national movements in the UK, US, Canada, Australia, and Hong Kong. This fellowship of Langham-funded global scholars is far-reaching to all parts of the globe in 61 countries.
Today we are supporting scholars pursing their PhD at one of 36 universities or seminaries. The grid below details those institutions:
| United States | Fuller Theological Seminary, Trinity Evangelical Seminary, Westminster Seminary, Calvin Seminary, Columbia Seminary, Princeton Seminary, Wheaton Graduate School, Asbury |
| United Kingdom | Trinity, Oxford Center for Mission Studies/Wales, Leeds University, King’s College, Gloucestershire, Durham University, Whitfield Institute, Oxford University, Birmingham, Aberdeen University, London School of Theology, University of London, Chester University, Edinburgh University, Cambridge University |
| Canada | Wycliffe-Toronto, St Paul’s University-Ottawa |
| Australia | Moore College-Sydney |
| Switzerland | University of Basel |
| Czech Republic | Int’l Baptist Theological Seminary (IBTS) |
| Ghana | Akrofi-Christaller Memorial Center |
| South Africa | Stellenbosch University, University of Kwazulu-Natal |
| Kenya | Nairobi Evangelical Graduate School of Theology (NEGST) |
| India | South Asia Institute Advanced Christian Studies (SAIACS) |
| Brazil | ISEDET-Buenos Aires |
| Hong Kong | Baptist University |
As you will note, Langham Partnership International is taking steps to support academically capable PhD programs in the Majority World. The most significant development for Majority-based PhD programs are those which incorporate a program blend of Majority-World doctoral programs with Western resources, supervisors and sometimes accreditation.
For example, our very own Dr. Chris Wright is investing his expertise and time into the newly launched PhD program at NEGST in Nairobi, Kenya.
What a shift from the first scholar Langham funded. We are thankful for this legacy and can only anticipate great things for the future. Thank you for your partnership to make this happen.
